first earned his name in air contests, and is best known for winning three consecutive surf contests at Mavericks in 1999, 2000, 2004. Throughout his career he has pushed the level of surfing in small and big waves, starred in the films “The Westsiders” and “Step Into Liquid” and gotten multiple cover shots on Surfer’s Journal, Surfer and Surfing Magazine before the days when everything went online.

After battling with drug addiction and alcohol abuse he began surfing for fun again and finds joy in sharing his knowledge with others. For the last 12 years he has worked with recovering addicts, bringing them into nature and using surfing as a form of therapy.

He loves nothing more than to see a good swell on the forecast.
